Shrinking Vmware Workstation Disks on linux guests

This method describes doing it in Linux guest virtual machine, there is another method from host using vmware-vdiskmanager.

In the guest where you are trying to shrink, make sure VMware Tools is already installed.

To get vmware toolbox (which has many options including shrink)

run vmware-toolbox
ex: vmware-toolbox   
      or
/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox

run this command as root otherwise shrink option will not be enabled.

this will open a new window with shrink option, you can select the partitions you want to shrink and click on shrink.

This issue happens when you end date a responsibility and give a new responsibility to a user. Once user tries to log in “XXX is not a valid responsibility for the current user. Please contact your System Administrator”. This is because of cache at server, oracle does this to speed up the process. Clearing this cache will make the user to log in with new responsibility.
